Beyond the Work. Beneath the Surface.
Black Oak Magick is where much of my spiritual, creative, and practical work has taken root. It is a place built around intuition, magick, folklore, ritual, ancestral memory, curiosity, and the strange and beautiful ways we make meaning from the lives we are living.
But some stories ask for a different kind of space.
My personal writing under FyreWytche is where I step a little farther out from beneath the Oak and write from the lived experience behind the person who created it.
On Substack, I explore the things that do not always arrive neatly packaged with an answer.
Grief. Healing. Relationships. Emotional safety. Boundaries. Kindness. Creativity. Vulnerability. Identity. Heartbreak. Aging. Reclaiming parts of yourself you once made smaller for someone else. Learning to trust your own instincts again. Discovering what remains when an old version of your life falls away.
Stories From the Becoming
Some essays begin with something that happened yesterday. Others have been quietly waiting years for language.
This is not a space where every difficult experience has already been transformed into a tidy lesson. I am far more interested in what happens while we are still becoming.
There will be stories about the people who shape us, the things we inherit, the relationships we survive, the tenderness we remember, the moments that change us unexpectedly, and the strange little threads that sometimes connect who we were to who we are becoming.
There will also be joy.
Creativity returning after a long absence. Unexpected kindness. Humor in inconvenient places. The freedom of choosing differently. The realization that healing does not always announce itself dramatically. Sometimes it simply looks like noticing that you are laughing again.
Another Part of the Person Tending the Fire
FyreWytche has always been part of Black Oak Magick, but this writing is intentionally more personal. It is not another branch of Black Oak, nor is every essay about magick or spiritual practice.
It is simply another part of the person tending the fire.
